The Garage Door Centre and its parent Dove Group has been a client of Freetimers since 2006, initially coming to us for a re-vamp of their main site thegaragedoorcentre.co.uk, and having used several other web design agencies without achieving any measurable success. Five years on in 2011, they now have 10 sites, and we have helped them grow from being a regional supplier to the top retailer of garage doors in the UK. As of August 2011 the main site's visitor rate has increased by 7,500% (yes, that's seven thousand five hundred per cent!).
For web marketing and SEO, we used a phased approach for this client, starting with search engine optimisation at the county level to mirror the locations of his showrooms, and then progressing to country-wide and the biggest generic worldwide terms like ‘garage doors’. Initially with basically no presence on the search engines at all, we first achieved top positions for most of the counties they wanted to trade in, which took around 4 months. This had an immediate effect on business and on visitor rates to the website. Then we progressively applied advanced optimisation techniques and increased link popularity building to an ever larger number of search phrases. So far this work has resulted in the achievement mentioned above, plus 75% of a very large number of search phrases being in Google's top 5 rankings.
We have also used a phased development approach introducing new websites, including Garagedoorsonline.co.uk, Samsondoors.co.uk and Agdsystems.co.uk, all of which are steadily improving, with Garagedoorsonline achieving 2.6M hits and 40K visitors again in August 2011.
